The iPhone Duo does not include FaceTime's Eye Contact feature, which adjusts gaze during video calls to create the illusion of direct eye contact, according to MacRumors and Notebookcheck. This setting is available on other iPhone models, including those with Touch ID, but is absent on the foldable device.
Sources suggest the absence may stem from the under-display camera's position on the iPhone Duo's inner display, which is offset toward the right side. This placement creates a larger sideways gap compared to standard iPhones, making gaze correction more complex, according to MacRumors.
Apple has not provided an official explanation for the missing feature, though Notebookcheck notes design constraints could be a factor. The publication also highlights that Eye Tracking is restricted when using the Duo's folded state or secondary display.
The issue is distinct from the previously reported display cracking problems, which Apple has addressed with replacement programs. However, the Eye Contact absence remains unexplained, with no indication of future software updates to resolve it.
