How RevealedNews makes money

Short version: RevealedNews earns nothing from its readers directly. It may earn a commission from store links on stories about products, and it may show one clearly labelled ad. The links to the outlets we summarise are plain links, and we get no commission on them.
Affiliate links
When a games or hardware story is about something you can buy, the page may show a “Where to buy” box under the story. Each link there is an affiliate link: if you buy through it we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. The box says so above the links, and the links are tagged as sponsored for search engines. They are search links, so we do not show prices. Where Amazon links appear: as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
The links are built by the site’s code from the topic tags a story is filed under. No AI writes or edits a link. If we are not part of a store’s program at the moment, its links do not appear.
The links go straight to the store. We count clicks on them on our own site, as a daily total per story, without cookies and without identifying who clicked.
Advertising
Story pages may show one ad in the side column, labelled “Advertisement”. It loads after the page and is never placed inside a story, on the home page or on section pages. We do not add tracking of our own for it.
What we count
To learn which stories are read and which sign-up prompts work, our own server keeps daily totals: story views, clicks on story links and where on the page they were, clicks on “Where to buy” and “Build my feed”, digest sign-ups per prompt, and how many accounts were created. Each total is one number per day. We store no IP address, cookie, account or device identifier for these counts, and nothing is sent to an analytics company. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, your views and clicks are not counted.
Editorial independence
Money, if it ever arrives, will not decide what gets covered or what a story says. We do not take payment for placement, and we do not accept copy approval from a retailer or manufacturer in exchange for a link.
