Marvel Studios is bringing Avengers: Endgame back to theaters this fall as "Avengers: Endgame Encore," a re-release tied to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. According to listings on AMC Theatres, the Encore version has a runtime of 185 minutes, or three hours and five minutes.

The original 2019 Endgame ran 181 minutes, meaning the Encore edition contains only about four minutes of additional footage. The new runtime makes Endgame Encore the longest MCU release to date, surpassing the original film.

The extra footage was reportedly shot during production of Avengers: Doomsday specifically to connect Endgame to the new film. No details have been confirmed about what the additional scenes contain.

Director Joe Russo has said it was "critically important" to rerelease Endgame, noting that re-releases aren't common because of the cost involved. He said the opportunity allows the studio to "enhance the story of Doomsday by bridging it to Endgame and these characters that we worked with for years that we love so much, and continue their story."

Polygon speculated, without confirmation, that the new footage could relate to Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, given his prominent return in Doomsday trailers and his farewell appearance at the end of Endgame, suggesting any new scene would likely appear near the film's conclusion.

Avengers: Endgame Encore is scheduled to open in theaters on September 25, notably without an IMAX release, while Avengers: Doomsday is set to arrive in theaters on December 18.
