Following their 2024 merger, Jason Blum’s Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster have adopted the name Blumhouse Atomic, citing a 'natural evolution' of their collaboration. Blum stated in a statement to Deadline that the combined entity has merged the output of a studio with the creative freedom of an independent company.
The merged entity has generated over $2.5 billion in global box office revenue since the 2024 merger, with films like 'Obsession' and 'Backrooms' achieving significant financial success. These projects, produced under the Blumhouse Atomic umbrella, highlight the company’s strategy of pairing ambitious storytelling with disciplined budgets.
James Wan emphasized the focus on emerging filmmakers, noting the company’s strategy of supporting long-term creative relationships, as seen in collaborations with directors such as Kane Parsons and Curry Barker.
The company also appointed Sam Zimmerman to a development role and secured a first-look deal with Divide/Conquer to produce cost-efficient genre films, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing new talent and innovative storytelling.
