Google confirmed on November 3 that K–12 student accounts will have access to Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Gemini in Classroom, and Google Search disabled by default starting in 2027, requiring administrators to explicitly enable these services.

Chris Phillips of Google stated that Search and AI are deeply integrated, meaning schools banning AI tools would prevent students from accessing Google Search through school-managed accounts, according to The New York Times.

Google introduced Guided Learning to help students solve problems step-by-step rather than receiving direct answers, offering an alternative to AI-generated responses in Search and Classroom for schools that enable the service.
