Kojima Productions addressed recent reports about Physint's development issues, stating the studio is in a 'healthy, profitable state' and urging players to approach unverified claims with 'a dose of scepticism.' The statement, posted on X, emphasized that development with Xbox as publisher is proceeding, while reaffirming the studio's relationship with PlayStation remains strong.

Reports from Bloomberg and other outlets suggested PlayStation exited Physint due to missed deadlines, budget overruns, and underperforming sales of Death Stranding 2. Hideo Kojima described being shocked by Sony's decision, which he learned via a June Zoom call. He stated he did not understand the reasoning and expressed no ill feelings toward Sony, despite the sudden cancellation of the project.

Kojima Productions did not directly refute Bloomberg's claims but highlighted that the studio's financial stability and ongoing development with Xbox remain unaffected. The game, a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid, is expected to launch on PC and Xbox, not PlayStation. Kojima also noted the project's potential as a multimedia IP, including films and anime, which he pitched to Microsoft as a broader venture.
