Lucasfilm Games has shifted its approach to licensing, with vice president Douglas Reilly stating the studio is 'more flexible' about accepting pitches from developers. This follows the success of independent titles like Star Wars: Zero Company and Star Wars: Galactic Racer, which were developed by smaller studios rather than major publishers.
Reilly emphasized that good ideas can emerge from 'a lot of different places,' noting Lucasfilm Games no longer prioritizes top-tier publishers. This contrasts with previous exclusive deals, such as Disney's agreement with EA, which limited creative diversity. The studio aims to work with experienced teams while exploring 'all kinds of things, large and small,' according to Reilly.
