CD PROJEKT RED used Gamescom Opening Night Live to announce The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, set to launch on September 29, 2026. The remaster brings substantial upgrades rather than a simple visual refresh, including improved graphics, enhanced combat, better traversal and movement, revamped mount handling, improved monster behaviors, new Witcher sign effects, a reworked skill tree, transmogrification, expanded photo mode, and new finishers.

The Remastered edition will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and for the first time will also get a native version on Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders already open. Existing owners of The Witcher 3 will receive the Remastered upgrade for free. The game will also launch the same day on Battle.net through a new partnership between CD PROJEKT RED and Blizzard Entertainment; those who purchase the expansion on Blizzard's platform will unlock a Geralt-inspired skin in Diablo 4, with more details to come at BlizzCon in September.

As an added bonus announced on stage by Geoff Keighley, all current owners of The Witcher 3 immediately gained free access to the game's two original expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, ahead of the Remastered launch.

Alongside the remaster, CD PROJEKT RED revealed a first look at a new paid expansion called Songs of the Past, scheduled for release in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It is available to wishlist now on select platforms. The expansion introduces a new region called Letten, described as an idyllic land built around rural traditions and folklore, where bountiful harvests and festive celebrations mask a darker, long-dormant secret. Geralt will face never-before-seen enemies and reunite with old allies as he confronts this hidden evil.

Songs of the Past is being co-developed with Fool's Theory, a studio led by veterans of the original Witcher 3, while the Remastered edition is being co-developed with Yigsoft, a team with prior experience working on the game. CD PROJEKT RED is hosting guided presentations of both projects throughout Gamescom, with additional REDstreams presentations streamed on YouTube and Twitch for those not attending in person.
