Insomniac Games announced that Marvel's Wolverine has officially gone gold, just one month before its release. The studio marked the occasion with a gif of Logan popping his claws and the caption, "Today, we're popping claws in celebration. Marvel's Wolverine has gone gold!"

The announcement comes five years after the game was first revealed. According to GamesRadar+, Insomniac had said it announced Wolverine very early because it knew it would be difficult to keep a lid on it. Development was further complicated by a major leak in 2023 and the studio's simultaneous work on Spider-Man 2, also released in 2023.

Marvel's Wolverine is set to launch on September 15 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. GamesRadar+ notes that the release timing appears deliberate, arriving about two months before Grand Theft Auto 6, which is due in November and expected to dominate attention once it launches.

Going gold typically means a game's development is complete and it is ready for manufacturing and distribution, though GamesRadar+ notes that studios often continue bug fixing and minor adjustments based on preview feedback in the weeks that follow.

The milestone caps off what GamesRadar+ describes as a long and at times difficult development cycle for Insomniac, marking the final major step before Marvel's Wolverine reaches players next month.
