PEGI's updated criteria require digital games featuring paid random items like loot boxes to carry a PEGI 16 rating. This change applies to existing titles rated PEGI 3, 7, or 12 that include such mechanics, according to Connor Hinde of the Games Rating Authority.

Games may include EA Sports FC, Zenless Zone Zero, and Monopoly Go, with some titles like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Fire Emblem Heroes already receiving the 16 rating. Hinde noted the process will continue through October, urging developers to contact the PEGI helpdesk for inquiries.
