Asus has finally announced pricing and pre-order availability for the ROG Xbox Ally X20, a gaming handheld first revealed at Computex 2026. The standalone system is priced at $1,299.99 — a $300 premium over the standard ROG Xbox Ally X, which remains available at $999.99. Both the handheld and a bundle version will go on sale October 15 through the Asus Store and Best Buy.
Initially, Asus had only announced the X20 as part of a bundle with Xreal R1 Edition 20 AR glasses, leaving standalone pricing unclear. That bundle is priced at $2,499.99 in the US (£2,299 in the UK), while the standalone handheld costs £1,299 in the UK. According to Tom's Hardware, the bundle also includes a dbrand Killswitch case with black-and-gold accents, a built-in kickstand, and a skin, as well as a custom Pelican hard case featuring a black-and-gold ROG 20th Anniversary logo.
Internally, the X20 keeps the same core hardware as the original Ally X, including the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme APU, 24 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD. The main upgrades are external and ergonomic: a new 7.4-inch, 120 Hz ROG Nebula HDR OLED display with 1,400 nits of peak brightness, replacing what Tom's Hardware described as one of the original Ally's biggest drawbacks — its non-OLED screen.
The X20 also introduces TMR joysticks in place of standard analog sticks, offering more sensitive and reliable input through magnetic sensing rather than potentiometers. The controller has redesigned ABXY buttons with rounded, flush tops intended to make thumb movement between buttons easier, along with a swappable D-pad topper similar to the Xbox Elite controller; Tom's Hardware notes this topper allows the D-pad to switch between 4-way and 8-way configurations. The device also features rubberized grips and a translucent, smoky chassis, according to Tom's Hardware.
The ROG Xbox Ally X20 is part of a wider Asus ROG 20th Anniversary product lineup announced at Computex, which Tom's Hardware notes also includes high-end PC components — with one full build costing as much as $15,000 — as well as an anniversary monitor, keyboard, mouse, router, and NUC mini PC.
