Embark Studios developers explained that generative AI voice acting was used to avoid overwhelming actors with excessive lines, as stated by audio director Bence Pajor. "The actors would just go crazy if they had to read all of that," Pajor said, according to a Eurogamer report.
Embark CCO Stefan Strandberg emphasized the studio is not replacing actors, despite using AI for voice lines. "We are not in the industry of replacing actors," Strandberg stated, while acknowledging efforts to replace AI-generated lines with human recordings.
Diana Gardner described the AI system as "freeing" for her schedule, though she expressed concerns about ownership of her performances. "The contract seemed so fair [...] but can I take ownership for the final product? No," Gardner said, according to Eurogamer.
