Wizards of the Coast used its D&D keynote at Gen Con to reveal new casting details for Warlock, a videogame currently in development at its internal studio Invoke. Maggie Robertson, known for playing Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village and Orin the Red in Baldur's Gate 3, will voice and provide motion capture for Tasha, an archfey and demonologist character drawn from Dungeons & Dragons lore, in the new title.
Warlock's protagonist, named Kaatri, will be voiced by Tricia Helfer, known for her roles in Battlestar Galactica, Mass Effect (EDI), Mortal Kombat X (Sonya Blade), StarCraft 2 (Sarah Kerrigan), and Lucifer. As a warlock, Kaatri gains her powers through a pact with Tasha, her supernatural patron.
Unlike Baldur's Gate 3, Warlock will not be a turn-based game and will not feature dice rolls, moving away from a traditional tabletop feel. It is described as an entirely single-player, magic-heavy title that has drawn comparisons to a mix of Skyrim and D&D, though full details remain scarce. Wizards of the Coast has been announced as making the game partly as an alternative to Baldur's Gate 3's style, with other reporting comparing its ambitions to something like a God of War-style action adventure.
The first gameplay footage for Warlock is expected to debut at Gamescom, running August 26 to 30 in Cologne. The game is currently expected to release sometime in 2027, according to one source, though Wizards of the Coast has not shared extensive details about story or mechanics beyond the confirmed cast and its departure from the turn-based format.
