Devora Wilde, the actor behind Lae'zel in Baldur's Gate 3 and Clea in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has voiced roles in numerous video games, including Solasta 2, Crimson Desert, Split Fiction, and Red Solstice 2. Among her credits is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 — though she didn't know she was in it until after the game came out.
Speaking to IGN, Wilde recalled fans commenting that she was in Space Marine 2 after its release, and her initial reaction was disbelief. She said she responded, "No, I'm not. What is that?" She only started to reconsider once players began sending her clips of her voice lines from the game.
After hearing the clips, Wilde noted that people had commented the voice sounded like Lae'zel, and she agreed it did. She then had to dig through her emails to match a codename for the project with the actual released game before confirming she had indeed worked on it.
Wilde explained that not knowing the names of games during development is common practice for actors, often due to concerns about leaks. She experienced something similar with Silent Hill 2, where she performed mocap and stunts and only realized which game she was working on after some dialogue sounded familiar and she looked it up online.
In Space Marine 2, Wilde voiced multiple roles, including a servo-skull and a Cadian soldier whose audio log messages players can find in the game. It was hearing a recording of the Cadian soldier that finally convinced her she had been part of the project, and she recalled thinking, "Oh, that's me. I'm an audio log!"
Wilde has extensive experience in the Warhammer universe beyond Space Marine 2. She voices Tzarina Katarin Bokha in Total War: Warhammer 3, provides the Authoritarian voice option for the female Arbitrator in Darktide, and appeared as one of the Sisters of Battle in the Adepta Sororitas animation Penitence on Warhammer TV. She said she hadn't realized how vast the Warhammer universe was until reflecting on her body of work within it.
