Pearl Abyss has released a new update for Crimson Desert that significantly overhauls the game's trading economy. The patch adds 133 new trading posts, which will appear as players progress through quests, and rebalances the types and quantities of goods available at all trading posts.

The update introduces supply-and-demand mechanics to the game for the first time. Trade good prices will now change when too many items are sold at a single location, and trading at harder-to-reach wagon locations will yield higher profits than selling at more accessible posts. Royal posts now offer quadruple the price they previously did for goods, and overall trade profits have increased. The update also adds 24 new types of high-value trade goods and 4 new types of regular trade goods, and packaged goods can now be stacked up to a maximum of 10 or 100 depending on their price.

Other changes include wagons no longer disappearing after delivering goods to a royal post, and a new 'Claim Bank Strongbox' feature that lets players deposit 10 or more bonds to start investing; bonds can also be exchanged for 10 Gold Bars or used to buy rare items. To help players navigate the expanded trading system, the map now includes filters for trading posts, royal posts, wagon workshops, and wagon routes, including a filter to show only posts selling specific items.

The update also includes a number of minor fixes, such as repairs to previously bugged challenges and improved interaction animations for animals like the platypus and the feathered weasel.

Reaction on social media has been mixed, according to PC Gamer, with some players expressing surprise that the wagon trading system—previously seen as underused—was receiving such a major expansion, while others welcomed the changes as an improvement over what one commenter called a 'shitty system.' Both outlets note that this update continues Pearl Abyss's pattern of near-weekly patches for Crimson Desert, with GamesRadar+ adding that the studio is simultaneously working on paid DLC described as 'substantively different' from the base game.
