Prime Video released the first three episodes of "Reacher" season 4 globally on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with the remaining five episodes rolling out weekly through September 16. The season is based on the 13th Lee Child novel, "Gone Tomorrow," and continues to star Alan Ritchson as former military police major Jack Reacher.
The new season opens with Reacher witnessing a woman named Anna take her own life on a Philadelphia subway car. That event pulls him into a wider conspiracy, as police, federal agents and the CIA all suspect the woman gave him something before she died. Helping him investigate are a Philadelphia police officer, the woman's brother, and a journalist who has been building an exposé on CIA black sites in the U.S. A separate storyline follows Anna's missing son. Set photos had also teased a new love interest for Reacher, and a journalist from Indonesia investigating American activities becomes involved with him during the season.
According to Tom's Guide, the show carries a darker tone this season, and the outlet noted that viewers sensitive to depictions of suicide may want to avoid it. Despite the tonal shift, the review said the season sticks closely to the formula that has defined the series: a strong, mostly silent lead who is clever and witty when he speaks, gets the girl, and dispatches bad guys through action sequences. The review gave the three-episode premiere 4 out of 5 stars, praising Ritchson's performance as ideally suited to the role and comparing the pairing of actor and character to Gary Oldman's turn as Jackson Lamb in "Slow Horses."
The season's cast includes Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette as Jacob Merrick, replacing Jay Baruchel in the role, along with Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Anggun, Kevin Corrigan, Marc Blucas, Kathleen Robertson, Kevin Weisman, Dean Armstrong and Joel Labelle. Tom's Guide's review specifically named Karen Kwong-Chip as the woman who dies at the season's opening, and highlighted Kevin Corrigan's role as a jaded Philadelphia detective and Kevin Weisman's role as a journalist pursuing the black-sites story.
"Reacher" season 4 is available exclusively on Prime Video, with new users able to access a 30-day free trial. Tom's Guide noted that the series can be streamed from outside a viewer's home country using a VPN. The outlet's review said the season is accessible to newcomers, noting only minor connective tissue between seasons, and recommended it to anyone open to an action-driven series, while noting that Ritchson's performance is central to its appeal.
