On Prime Video, TV picks include "Reacher" season 4, which finds Alan Ritchson's Jack Reacher in Philadelphia after witnessing a woman's death on the subway, an event that pulls him into a conspiracy involving federal agents and the CIA. The season adapts Lee Child's novel "Gone Tomorrow." Also highlighted is "Sterling Point," a YA mystery drama starring Ella Rubin as a teen who inherits a remote Canadian island from her estranged grandfather; the show debuted with a 91% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and has already been renewed for a second season. For Prime Video movies, three titles stand out: "Is God Is," a revenge thriller starring Kara Young and Mallori Johnson as twin sisters seeking vengeance on the father who disfigured them, currently holding a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes; "Back to the 90's," a German time-travel comedy about a boy band flung back to the 1990s; and "The Last Sunrise," a romance based on Anna Todd's novel about a college student with a chronic illness who finds love during a summer in Mallorca.
On Netflix, the final weekend of August brings season two of the sitcom "Leanne," which follows the comedian navigating post-divorce life and dating at 60; "All the Truth in My Lies," a five-episode Spanish drama based on Elísabet Benavent's novel about a friend group whose bachelorette getaway turns emotionally messy; and "Revival," a supernatural horror series based on the comic book of the same name, following a small-town deputy investigating a mysterious murder after the recently deceased begin rising from their graves. For movies, Netflix's biggest release is "The Whisper Man," a crime thriller starring Robert De Niro and Adam Scott about a widowed writer and his estranged father searching for the writer's missing son. Also recommended are "Megan," the AI killer-doll horror film, and "In the Earth," a folk-horror movie shot in the UK about a virus outbreak in a remote forest.
Hulu's picks include "Adults" season 2, a sitcom about friends navigating adulthood while living together, which has drawn comparisons to "Girls"; "Futurama" season 14, the long-running animated sci-fi sitcom; and "Furious," a crime drama starring Emmy Rossum as an FBI agent hunting a serial killer who is secretly a vigilante trafficking survivor. "Furious" holds a 98% critics score and 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and has been renewed for a second season, with its finale arriving Monday. For Hulu movies, recommendations include "The Christophers," a black comedy starring Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel about a forger hired to complete an aging artist's unfinished works; "Violent Ends," a 2025 gothic crime thriller starring Billy Magnussen; and the 2014 sci-fi classic "Ex Machina."
Paramount+ rounds out the weekend with a mix of classic and new movies: "You've Got Mail," the 1998 Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan romantic comedy; "Blue Valentine," the 2010 drama starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams that chronicles a marriage's beginning and end; and "Passenger," a new supernatural horror film starring Lou Llobell about a couple haunted by a mysterious force after witnessing a fatal car crash.
