A person or group calling themselves Cyberleek has been releasing daily leaked gameplay clips from Grand Theft Auto 6 for roughly two weeks, and the newest one, posted the morning of Aug. 25, shows co-protagonist Jason biking along a beach at sunset. The roughly two-minute clip depicts Jason leaving tracks in the sand, killing a seagull, and passing dozens of NPCs sunbathing, swimming, chatting, and looking at their phones, with jet skis and yachts visible in the water. Sources note the clip has some rough edges, including NPC pop-in and an umbrella cloth that deforms oddly, and some observers suspect the build shown is at least a year old.
The beach footage answered lingering fan doubts about whether Rockstar could deliver the crowd density shown in GTA 6's original 2023 trailers, especially after earlier screenshots appeared to show a sparser beach. Multiple outlets report that the variety of NPCs — their clothing, body types, animations, and even barked dialogue lines — impressed fans and commentators, with one outlet calling the scene's crowd variation among the most extensive ever seen in a game. Reddit users reacted with enthusiasm, with comments like 'Rockstar cooked once again' and remarks about 'crowd density deniers' being proven wrong, though some questioned whether the dark, sunset lighting made past leaks harder to appreciate.
This beach clip was the 13th leak from Cyberleek, following earlier clips showing a nightclub, a nudist beach, the full in-game map, and, on the same day, an electronics and video game store called 'Game Horde' that sells physical discs and consoles despite GTA 6 being digital-only. In an on-screen message accompanying the store leak, Cyberleek said the point was not about physical discs but about 'ownership' and resale rights in a digital-only era. Cyberleek has also been promoting a cryptocurrency and reportedly charges people to vote on which clips get released next, drawing skepticism even from those sympathetic to the leaker's stated message.
Take-Two Interactive, GTA's publisher, has filed a federal petition under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act alleging copyright infringement and is trying to subpoena Microsoft and Discord for information that could identify Cyberleek; Discord says it has not yet been served. Take-Two had also been getting individual leaked clips removed via copyright complaints, though it's unclear if the company has slowed those efforts or is simply being outpaced by the volume of leaks, which remain easy to find on platforms like Reddit and Twitter. According to a Bloomberg report cited by Polygon, Rockstar employees are frustrated and exhausted, partly because this marks the second major leak after the 2022 incident, and because security measures adopted afterward — including ending remote work — failed to prevent this one. A senior Rockstar executive reportedly sent staff an email denouncing the leaker and reassuring them the leaks wouldn't overshadow their work.
Rockstar itself has not commented publicly on the leaks. The company and Netflix are set to air 'Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look' on Aug. 27, premiering on Netflix before appearing on YouTube later that day. Some coverage suggests the scale of Cyberleek's leaks — 13 clips and about 26 minutes of footage by Aug. 25 — has already undercut some of the anticipation for that official reveal, though outlets agree the unauthorized footage is unlikely to hurt the game's reception. GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on Nov. 19.
