Rockstar Games' marketing material for Grand Theft Auto 6, including its official trailers and an extended preview released through Netflix, has featured a wide array of songs that fans and outlets have worked to identify. Shortly after the second official trailer debuted, culture site Modern Notoriety posted a list of 14 songs heard throughout the video, which was later confirmed by Polygon.
According to Polygon's report, the songs featured in the trailer include Birdman and Lil Wayne's 'Pop Bottles,' Sexyy Red and Tay Keith's 'Pound Town,' Kodak Black's 'Skrilla,' The Bellamy Brothers' 'Let Your Love Flow,' Def Leppard's 'Love Bites,' Depeche Mode's 'People Are People,' Captain and Tennille's 'But I Think It's a Dream,' Prefab Sprout's 'Cars and Girls,' !!!'s 'Off the Grid' featuring a vocalist Polygon lists as Meah Pace, Cliff Richard's 'Devil Woman,' Chimbala and Omega's 'Se Me Nota,' Phil Collins' 'Against All Odds,' Aluna and Jayda G's 'Mine O' Mine,' and Elderbrook and Bob Moses' 'Inner Light.' PC Gamer's independent list of songs from the trailers matches this rundown, though it spells the featured vocalist's name as Mesh Pace, a discrepancy between the two outlets.
Polygon noted specific moments where some of these songs appear, such as Phil Collins playing while a character named Jason rides in an elevator, and 'Devil Woman' playing during an extended segment focused on a character named Lucia.
PC Gamer separately reported on songs featured in Rockstar's extended Netflix preview of the game, noting that many of the same 14 tracks identified by Polygon and Modern Notoriety also appear there. PC Gamer additionally identified an extended version of the Grand Theft Auto 6 theme, first heard in the second official trailer, playing during the Netflix preview, though it noted no official upload of that extended theme was available. PC Gamer also identified separate songs from the first and second official trailers, including Zenglen's 'Child Support,' Wang Chung's 'Everybody Have Fun Tonight,' Tammy Wynette's 'Talkin' to Myself Again,' The Pointer Sisters' 'Hot Together,' and Tom Petty's 'Love Is a Long Road.'
Polygon observed that the music selection is eclectic and not weighted toward any particular genre or generation, consistent with how past Grand Theft Auto games have used varied radio stations to appeal to different tastes. Polygon connected this approach to other customization features Rockstar has built into GTA 6, including options to let players decide whether characters Lucia and Jason become romantically involved, expanded control over gameplay, expanded fashion options, and the ability to alter the two protagonists' physical appearances. Grand Theft Auto 6 is set for release on Nov. 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, according to Polygon.
