The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Rebel Wolves and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, is a time-sensitive narrative RPG in which player choices and available time both shape the story. According to a Polygon guide, the game's prologue offers 13 possible quests before an event called "mass," but players only have eight time segments to work with — seven if the "Withering Away" quest is included — meaning it is impossible to complete every quest in that window.
The guide breaks down how much time each quest consumes, ranging from quests that take no time at all to ones like "Bandits' Treasure Map: Laslea Glen" and "On the Run," which use two time segments. Polygon notes that no matter which quests players choose, they will not be permanently locked out of content later in the game, though there may be minor differences based on decisions made. The guide recommends prioritizing quests such as "Blasphemy," "Deep Down," "Page-Turner," "On the Run," and "Disturbed," citing their difficult choices, mechanical tutorials, or character development, particularly around Anca. It also warns against starting a quest with only one time segment remaining, since an interrupted quest can fail outright, and suggests instead using leftover time to level up a skill like Sustained Focus.
A second Polygon guide focuses on a later main quest, "Stronger Than Achilles," which follows "Where Old Devils Lie" as part of Anca's questline. In this quest, Coen and Anca explore an ancient temple in search of the Font of Life — Coen hopes it will unlock a new power, while Anca wants to erase her troubled past. The guide explains that entering the temple's deeper ruins costs six time segments and can only be done during the day, and warns that if players choose to leave Anca behind and return later, they must clear all monsters from the first chambers first, or they will find her dead upon returning.
The quest includes an idol that requires a hand to be placed in its mouth to proceed, with three possible outcomes: only Coen's blood is drawn, both Coen's and Anca's blood are drawn, or only Anca's blood is drawn. Polygon states that whichever option is chosen, the consequences are minor — Coen may lose some health, and refusing to offer blood does not affect a potential romance with Anca.
The quest's central decision involves the Font of Life itself. Players can let Anca use it, which removes her witchcraft as she wishes but gives Coen no reward; let Coen use it, which unlocks a passive health regeneration ability on his witchcraft skill tree while Anca keeps her witchcraft; or destroy the font entirely, which grants Coen a legendary armor piece called the Ancient Greaves but denies both Anca her fresh start and Coen the new ability. Both guides emphasize that The Blood of Dawnwalker is built around these kinds of time and choice trade-offs throughout its story.
