Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launched toward the end of July 2026 on PC and PlayStation 5, and while the PlayStation 5 version reportedly played flawlessly, the PC version drew widespread complaints. Issues included PlayStation's online services crashing and PC performance problems that affected both high-end and older systems, with most PC systems unable to maintain a consistent 60 FPS, causing problems in both offline and online play.

In response, PlayStation and Arc System Works released a patch on August 10 aimed at correcting these issues. According to patch notes posted on Steam, the update reduced CPU usage through multiple fixes, including addressing high CPU usage during startup and load created by periodic audio processing during matches. The update also fixed an issue where the game was continuously checking for available audio inputs, which had caused sudden frame rate and performance drops, and corrected a bug that caused low frame rates at certain resolutions.

Arc System Works also confirmed on the game's official Discord server that the patch reduces CPU load to improve responsiveness and reduce lag-related issues, fixes a bug causing sudden performance drops during gameplay, and improves backend crash reporting to help the developers track down issues and improve stability faster.

Reaction to the patch has been largely positive. Reddit users on r/MarvelTokon reported that the changes have mostly succeeded in improving in-game performance, with some noting substantial jumps on reasonably powerful desktop builds, going from choppy performance with lows near 50 FPS to a solid 60+ FPS, particularly when upscaling options like DLSS are enabled. A Wccftech report on the patch also noted a generally positive response in offline modes, though the outlet's own tester, using a high-end system, did not notice significant improvement since they had not experienced major performance drops beforehand.

Not all issues have been resolved. Some users with older graphics cards continue to report low performance or even regressions, though these appear to be mostly isolated cases. Separately, Wccftech noted ongoing problems in online play, where matches against other PC players were at times unplayable due to significant slowdowns and rollback frames, an issue the outlet hoped the patch would address. Arc System Works has said optimization efforts will continue going forward.
