Vanillaware's 'Muramasa: Revenant Blades' is a 2027 remaster of the 2009 Wii game 'Muramasa: The Demon Blade,' featuring 4K resolution, new weapons, and a relocalized English voiceover. The game will launch on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC, with physical editions available for console versions. A Limited Edition includes an art book, soundtrack, and byōbu folding screen.

The remaster introduces six playable characters, including four added in the 2013 Vita version, with all stories accessible from the start. A new skill system allows players to equip three ground and three air abilities to swords, enabling complex combat combinations. Enemies now have fixed levels, altering difficulty based on player progression paths.

PC Gamer highlights the game's 108 swords, each with unique skills requiring bloodshed to unlock, and a revised combat system emphasizing fluidity and weapon management. The director, Wataru Nakanishi, noted challenges in remastering hand-drawn art for HD and the shift from enemy scaling to fixed-level encounters. The game also includes non-combat activities like fishing and hot-springs exploration.
