Shondaland is moving production of Grey's Anatomy's Texas-set spin-off to Albuquerque after two rejections for California tax credits, according to The A.V. Club. The show, which was initially scheduled for a midseason 2027 debut, will now premiere during the 2027-2028 broadcast season.
Betsy Beers, an executive producer, criticized California's tax credit program, stating Shondaland was denied support despite its history of creating long-running shows. She said the state prioritized returning shows over new productions, leading to delays and financial losses for the spin-off.
