Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Rebel Wolves, is built around time-sensitive choices, and PC Gamer's guides lay out several of the game's key moral decisions. During The Firebrand quest at Mert's Mill, players can either kill soldiers hiding in a barn or leave them be at the request of Mert's wife Renna. Despite Renna's plea, guides note she is wrong: if the soldiers aren't killed, Renna herself will be killed while the player frees Mert from Stoneward Post prison. Killing the soldiers means Renna's corpse won't be found later, and Mert can be met again afterward at the Svartrau Almshouse.

Another major choice involves the character Vlad, who is killed automatically after a fight near a burning house unless the player has more than one health segment (representing blood/hunger) during their following conversation. If health is too low, giving in to hunger kills Vlad; if health is sufficient, he survives, offers information about the rebel network in Vale Sangora, and promises a future meeting. A separate choice concerns the Vrakhir character Ambrus: inviting him in results mainly in ongoing commentary from him throughout the game and some help in the final boss fight, though he can also be turned against the player. According to the guide, this choice has no impact on abilities, Corruption, or vampiric powers, since the Scarlet Shield ability tied to Ambrus's blood is obtained either way.

The game also features three romance options—Anca, Crake (also called Marat), and Lacra—all of which can be pursued simultaneously rather than requiring exclusivity. Anca, introduced early through the main story, is described as the most 'canonical' romance, guaranteed to appear in the epilogue with the most screentime, while Crake and Lacra are framed more as one-time encounters. Crake's romance is tied to the Manumit rebel questline, and he only appears in the epilogue if the player completes the final quest Rise at Dawn. Lacra's romance can be reached through multiple quest paths and only requires finishing her questline through the Midnight Reckoning quest for her to appear in the epilogue.

On the combat side, players can acquire seven Swordmastery abilities for human-form combat, starting with Dirty Trick already unlocked. The rest—Charge, Broad Swing, Swiftness, Adrenaline Rush, Artery Strike, and Walking Fortress—are obtained through manuals found in Bandit Camps, Soldier Camps, specific quests, or purchased from trainers such as Ursul, Ocha, and Drogos, the latter unlocked via the Manumit questline beginning with The Firebrand.

Specific quest walkthroughs cover trickier sequences as well. The Home Sweet Home quest traps players in a repeating dream sequence; escape requires interacting with a village well during the second runthrough, leading to a funeral scene where three characters—Alin, Esme, and Coen—must be examined in that specific order to progress and eventually exit the dream. The Forge It Anew quest, meanwhile, requires collecting three sword shards from Kobold nests in the Maragir Wealds, Rockfalls, and St. Tyna's Grove regions (with the third shard requiring a further pursuit into one of Xanthe's camps in The Silts) before bringing them to a Uriashi blacksmith in Briar Sloughs to reforge St. Mihai's Silver Sword into a weapon with a day/night-dependent weapon art.

All guidance in this roundup comes from PC Gamer's published walkthroughs, which caution that spoilers are involved throughout, particularly regarding the endings of the Vlad, Ambrus, and romance storylines.
