Square Enix announced during a PlayStation State of Play that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, will release on April 8, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2, according to Polygon and Rock Paper Shotgun.
Alongside the release date, Square Enix confirmed the game will receive a Story Expansion Pass containing two pieces of story DLC: one focused on Sephiroth and the other titled "Vincent & the Turks," per Polygon, Kotaku, and GamesRadar+. Both are planned for release sometime between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028, and both will be sold individually as well as bundled together, according to all four sources.
Details on the DLC largely emerged from the game's Steam page rather than the State of Play broadcast itself, Kotaku reported. The Steam listing describes the Story Expansion Pass as including an accessory called the Reclaimant Choker & Survival Set along with the two story DLCs, and notes that release dates and content are subject to change. GamesRadar+ added that a PlayStation Blog post confirmed the pass will unlock "two story-centered DLC," with more details promised later.
The Vincent-focused DLC's subtitle, "Vincent & the Turks," suggests it may explore his past with that faction before the events of the original Final Fantasy 7, according to Kotaku and Polygon. Rock Paper Shotgun noted Vincent previously starred in his own spinoff game, Dirge of Cerberus, though it's unclear if the new DLC connects to it. Polygon reported that director Naoki Hamaguchi has said DLC would likely focus on characters' "untold stories," and pointed to Episode INTERmission, the Yuffie-focused DLC for the first Remake game, as a reference point, noting its main quest took roughly six hours to complete.
The DLC pass will also be included in newly announced Premium and Premium Plus editions of the game, GamesRadar+ reported, both of which offer 24 hours of early access to the main game and in-game consumables, with the Premium Plus edition adding a digital art book and mini soundtrack. No pricing has been announced for the Story Expansion Pass or its individual DLC chapters, per Polygon and Kotaku.
GamesRadar+ noted the expansion pass had previously leaked via a third-party Epic Games Store database tool, though it was unclear at the time whether that listing was a placeholder. Rock Paper Shotgun and Polygon both indicated mixed reactions to the news: Rock Paper Shotgun expressed hesitation about further expanding Sephiroth's story given his appearances in Crisis Core and Ever Crisis, while Polygon noted some fans may be disappointed the DLC isn't a remake of Dirge of Cerberus.
